Dr. David Hirschorn

Dr. David Hirschorn is in his 6th year as the choral director at Renfroe Middle School where he teaches 240 singers in six choirs, and is musical director of Renfroe’s Spring Musical. He holds a Ph.D. from Georgia State University and music education degrees from Florida State University and the University of Miami. David has taught elementary and middle school music for 31 years in both Florida and Georgia. He is the co-author of the Georgia Performance Standards for middle school chorus. His choirs performed at the Georgia Music Educator’s Convention in 2008 and in 2018. He conducted both the 2009 GMEA District XIII Middle School Mixed Honor Choir and the 2012 GMEA District VII Middle School Honors Treble Chorus.

Laurel Harrell

Laurel Humber Harrell is a collaborative choral pianist and private teacher in metro Atlanta. She has accompanied choirs for Dr. David Hirschorn for over ten years. Since 2015, she has been a staff accompanist for the choruses of George Walton Comprehensive High School in Marietta. Mrs. Harrell earned her Master of Music degree from Georgia State University where she studied with Dr. Cary Lewis. She is the immediate past president of North Dekalb Music Teachers Association. In her private piano studio, she loves training the next generation of pianists through emphasis on Associated Board of the Royal School of Music graded exams and National Guild of Piano annual evaluations.

Millie Turek

In 2012, retired after teaching chorus for thirty-two years in middle and high schools in Georgia public schools. She has since continued her career in the private school sector in Atlanta. Ms. Turek has an undergraduate degree in music education from Florida State University (1980) and a Masters of Music degree from Georgia State University (1987). In 1998, Ms. Turek completed the Level III Kodaly Teacher Certification at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, NJ and audited Level IV at Portland State University...
